RAMAYANA- The Ancient Splendour - 2009

Annapurna dancers proudly brought alive India’s most popular and well loved epic -the wonderfully rich and enchanting story of the brave Prince Rama and his beautiful wife Sita.

The evening(s) was a grand celebration of the colourful pageantry of Prince Rama’s life.

The joys of celebration, of his wedding, the sadness of the long exile to the forest, the abduction of his wife and his victory over the evil ten headed king Ravana -all brought alive through traditional dancing and storytelling with puppetry, masks, stunning costumes and original music.

This performance was an adventurous journey to ancient and mystic India and celebrated the true spirit of Diwali – The festival of Indian lights with colours, movement, rhythms and expression!

Twilight Rhythms - 2008

This was a rare opportunity to watch magical Annapurna Indian Dancers share their deep affinity and passion for ancient temple dancing in stunning costumes.

The evening featured a vibrant folk dance called Yakshagana using hypnotic drumming called Chande, with storytelling and singing of rhythmic passages of dance.

Annapurna was proud to present the special guest appearances from renowned artistes Vidwan Chandrashekar Navada, with storyteller Sumathi Niranjan.
